POP RADIATOR: Arcade Fire - free show on... →
The Fire will play a free show in a Longueuil shopping center parking lot to promote their new album being released this August. They played a similar “secret” show this past weekend in Montreal. This use of atypical venues is really the status quo for The Fire as they have in the past played 5…

Why I think Facebook Has Gone Rogue →
I agree entirely with what you say! I don’t really use Facebook any more, but I still use Smart Twitter to post my tweets onto Facebook because so many friends only live on Facebook - to them that’s the internet!!!
But I want to add that the “network effect” you speak of is observed elsewhere: why are so many tech companies in Silicon Valley? Or car companies in Detroit?...

Anyone that has been making music as long and as successfully as the Bboys have are certainly entitled to a little slack when it comes to public commentary but the email sent out by Adam Y. seems a tad overboard. There is no harm in his email but it certainly begs the question if reality is…

90-year-old Canadian history magazine The Beaver is changing its name. Why? In brief, Internet filters. In being named for the dam-building creature that is Canada’s national emblem, it is also named for a prominent slang word for female genitalia. This means that anyone behind a web filter, such as those commonly used at schools and libraries, may be unable to...

Liberal's Can150 conference a dud before it even...
The Liberal party of Canada kicked off their Can150 conference today, during which they plan to discuss ideas for Canada’s future in the name of our upcoming (in 2017) 150th birthday. But do they really need an expensive and convoluted conference to know what Canadians are really looking for from their politicians? The Globe and Mail recently conducted a poll and the overwhelming...

Soak in the rays
Soak in the rays, originally uploaded by schultzter. Thomas had a really rough day at daycare the beginning of the month, so I had to leave work early and pick him up. Once we got home he perked up and we had a little snack together and spend some daddy/son time. It was a beautiful late winter afternoon and the sun streamed in through our living room window. It was easy to understand why he...

Yeah, but you’ve still got to transfer money out of your bank account and into your Zoompass account. Why would I want to do that? And what’s this about a pre-paid Mastercard?! Hard enough to find a place that accepts M/C, even less likely to find one that will take a pre-paid (i.e.: debit or gift) card.

Dear Mr. Ignatieff,
Is your “pitch a bold idea for Canada” going to be as lame as your OnProbation.ca web site? Which you’ve since shut down - how’s that for commitment?! The CTV Olympics site is a painful mix of Flash and Silverlight, and if you want to download any of the songs you have to have iTunes installed!
Curiously it’s built in partnership with MSN so I’m surprised to see Flash and iTunes figuring so prominently. I figured they would have used a Canadian music store or preferably just made the MP3’s directly downloadable!
